Fredric "Rick" Posner was a public school teacher and administrator for thirty years. He was an adviser, teacher and dean at the Jefferson County Open School in Lakewood, Colorado for nearly eighteen years. He received his Ph.D. in education from University of Denver in 1989.

Dr. Posner has written articles on school reform and progressive schooling for several educational journals. He has presented at various Alternative School conferences throughout the country. He has also served as the assistant editor for Changing Schools Journal.

He is currently an affiliate professor at Regis University in Denver and Prescott College in Arizona. Dr. Posner is also an educational consultant, working with charter schools across the country.

Dr. Posner has co-produced a documentary film about progressive education , A Clear View. He lives with his wife and cat in Evergreen, Colorado.
